Sharad came to this country in 1977 with 8 academic scholarships for further studies in the USA, after graduating from the prestigious Bombay University Department of Chemical Technology (BUDCT), standing 2nd in the entire country in the class of 1976 - First Class with Distinction. When he landed in New York he had only $26 in his pocket, 2 bags with all his worldly possessions in them, but a burning desire to make it in this new world. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a GPA of 4.0, Magna Cum Laude, he joined the largest privately owned textile company in this country at the time – Milliken and Company, where he rose to become the Director of Quality Assurance of the Automotive and Home Furnishings division in 5 years. Traveling all over the world in this capacity broadened his horizons. He also graduated from Dale Carnegie Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, and taught this course to other Milliken managers for 2 years.

He came to California on a new career in 1990 and worked in this capacity until 1998 when he started his own consulting company – Textech International, providing ISO 9000, statistical process control and management training support to the textile manufactures in Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean. He was instrumental in setting up several turnkey projects in the Dominican Republic, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Mumbai in the textile industry. Then came 9/11 and many things changed, so he began his search for the next step in his career.

Sharad joined NYL in 2002. He was the Agent of the Year in 2003, 2004, and 2005 at the Fullerton GO, was the top case rate agent for 6 years in a row, and ranked 8th in the nation in NYL as a case rate writer! He has over 2000 clients today. He is also the winner of every award New York Life offers a new agent in their first 3 years with the company, including the coveted Life Foundation Award, Life Superstar Award a qualifying member of the MDRT, Executive Council, Centurian, President’s Council, Club 21 agent, and several more. His office in Brea is a museum of all these awards per say.

Besides academics, Sharad excelled in several sporting activities like cycling, field hockey, table tennis, cricket, soccer, swimming and water polo (gold medalist for 4 years running in college), tennis (captain of the college team in India and in USA and intramural champion at Georgia Tech in 1980). He is a professional photographer as well having shot several weddings and other social gatherings. He is a proficient musician as well and was a lead guitarist in a pop western music band in college days playing at socials, discotheques, on TV, and radio in India. He still plays actively today and has released an instrumental CD last year – Timeless Memories. He also worked for the police department in Lagrange, Georgia teaching the firearms training class at the Citizen’s Academy for 2 years and a graduate of the Irvine Police Departments, Citizen Police Academy.  He lives with his wife, Mangala, in Irvine, CA.  They have 2 children, Mohan and Nivedita and two beautiful granddaughters, Uma and Vera.

Administrative Assistant

Mandy was born in India and came to the USA in 1977 with her husband. Her working career has included Walmart, C and S Bank, Mervyns, Target, and finally at Verizon Wireless for 14 years as a Senior Customer Service Representative before she retired about 45 years ago. After that, she started working with Sharad in his office as an Administrative Assistant using her phone skills and helping Sharad with his business. She lives in Irvine, CA and enjoys her spare time gardening, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her lovely granddaughters, Uma and Vera.
